We all know it important it is for Kindergarten and 1st Graders to learn how to make 5 and make 10. Today, I am sharing different hands on learning activities to help students master these skills.
I LOVE Shake and Spill Games. It is such an important skill for Kindergarten and First Grade. You just need to add a cup and two sided counters. It makes for a fun partner game.
There is a gameboard for composing and decomposing groups of 5 with a ten frame. I also included a printable for both skills.

I also have this FREE activity for practicing making 5 and making ten. It is also a partner game. Students take a card, count how many more to make five or ten, and they cover that number. The first student to cover four squares in a row wins! You can find this FREE game here.
