Yesterday, I was excited when I found my copy of The Teeny Tiny Ghost by Kay Winters. I went home last night and created the cutest lesson to look at characters, setting, problems, and solutions, AND a math word problem. I came to work so excited. I could not wait to teach my fabulous lesson. Then, I realized… I FORGOT the BOOK!!! After talking with three teachers, I found someone with a copy.
My sweeties did amazing with characters. We even added a few details describing the characters. For setting, one honey said, “Clock.” I used that as a lead into the problem. I didn’t want to make him feel bad. My kids were able to name several problems, but struggled with solutions. I know what I need to work on for November!
In math, I have been writing number problems. I have been letting the kids help me draw pictures. I thought we might be ready to start journals. Umm, I think we made need to practice more. I am showing the *BEST* picture. I knew the equation would be difficult, but I wanted to try. Plus, there were ghost EVERYWHERE!!!! Not just five ghosts. One honey drew 12 GHOSTS. I need to model it more I start journals. I think after modeling it a few more times next week, I will try the journals again.
