I cannot believe we have already been in school for 6 weeks!!! Wow, it is flying by.
Today, I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for 5 for Friday.
First, we made this simple counting apple tree. The kids colored the tree. Then, they were allowed to pick 5 apple stickers. They counted how many they had of one color and how many they had of the other color. It was their first exposure to sums of 5. I got the apple stickers in dollar bin at Target. You can get the template FREE HERE.
We also made these adorable Johnny Appleseed crafts from First Grade Blue Skies. You can get it HERE. We also watched Disney’s Johnny Appleseed cartoon.
We introduced 2 new centers. Roll a Letter and Roll a Sight Word. This is a simple, no prep game that your kids will LOVE. The Roll a Sight Word game not only has over 200 words, but it also has an editable version so you can put the words in the order you teach them. It is 50% off TODAY! Grab it HERE.
Roll a Letter is FREE. It includes a print version, d’nealian version, and a blank version.
This week, successfully ROCKED Guided Reading!!! We spent four LONG weeks of practicing rotations, but it was WORTH IT. My groups ran BEAUTIFULLY! I know a lot of you have questions about what I do in the early days of Guided Reading in Kindergarten. I am working on a post for you.
This summer I grew some pumpkins. Then, the squash bugs came. UGH. I had to pull all of these out. I am a little worried they won’t last long. But, still, I GREW THESE! I am going to take two of the small ones to school and then I think I paint the rest with glitter. Or something. I don’t know. Do you have any ideas???
