Sneezy the Snowman is one of my favorite January Read Aloud. It is about a snowman who is trying to keep warm because he doesn’t like to be cold. The only problem is he keeps melting!!!! Don’t worry, the kids are right there to put him together. The story has a great rhyming pattern that your students will be able to follow along with. Your Kindergarten students will love all of these winter activities.
This is the perfect book for when you come back from winter break. It is a great way to slide back into your routine. You can review classroom expectations, such as sitting on carpet, raising hands, how to use and return supplies, while teaching the activities for this book. Check out this blog post full of ideas for reviewing classroom expectations in January, including a free printable.
These writing prompts and crafts are a great way to decorate your bulletin boards. You can keep it simple by just having kids color or you can get fancy with Elmer’s glue, shaving cream, and glitter. I don’t have a recipe for the puffy paint, I just do about half and half.
The kids LOVE doing the cause and effect activity. They always laugh as they retell the effect. Silly Snowman!!!
In my Sneezy the Snowman pack, I have included all of the above, plus lesson plans, and several graphic organizers and writing prompts. This is a great story for talking about the problem and the solution, because Sneezy has a lot of problems!!! You can buy it here.
