I love Math Crafts. They are a great way to keep your students engaged in learning during the holiday season. I love to create crafts that match what we are working on in the curriculum, and then I differentiate them to support student learning.
Right now in math, we are working on adding from 9, n my 1st grade class, so that’s what i has my students do. I created this craft with Kindergarten and 1st grade students in mind, since I tend to switch back and forth every few years. There are 5 differentiated activities. You can pick any number between 1-20.
I also made two versions. One is cut and paste and the other is no prep. I think it is so important to let students cut and glue. It helps with fine motor skills, listening skills, and visual spatial skills. Do you have students who can’t write in the space provided? Do they write sideways? They need to work on their visual spatial skills and putting a craft together will help with that. However, I’m a teacher and I know sometimes, especially this time of year, you don’t have time to prep a craft. You also might have limited time during the day to do a craft, so a single page might work best for you. Either way, kids will enjoy the change of pace. Plus, it will look adorable in your hallway or on a bulletin board
