November writing is all about gratitude and turkeys. I love to have kids reflect on what they are grateful for. We know as adults how important it is to focus on gratitude (am I the only one who has a gratitude journal?). I think it is important to teach students the same thing. November is a great time to reflect and find joy.
This little turkey book is so fun to make. You can keep it simple with only 1 writing prompt or you can do 5 and make a little book. There are a total of 10 writing prompts that focus on gratitude and Thanksgiving celebrations. There are pages with lines and blank pages to meet the needs of your little learners.
Your families will love this little keepsake. We made anchor charts to help students gather their thoughts. They did one writing prompt per day. I didn’t feel like they had the stamina to do more. I have students put their unfinished work in a folder in their drawer. On Friday, they got to make the turkey craft and assemble to book. We stapled the pages together at the end.
